#550 fixed Use dh_gconf instead of gconftool-2 in cluster-login-config broder

Reported by broder, 12 years ago.

Description

Right now we set a bunch of mandatory settings by hand using gconftool-2 in cluster-login-config's postinst.

As of Karmic/Lucid/Squeeze?, dh_gconf supports having debian/package.gconf-mandatory files in addition to debian/package.gconf-defaults files. We should switch to using those after there are no longer Jaunty cluster machines.

#398 fixed Use CUPS by default geofft

Reported by geofft, 13 years ago.

Description

We're currently defaulting users to LPRng /etc/debathena-printing.conf; we should switch back to CUPS at some point when we've resolved the client-side issues that are making us want to default to LPRng. This is somewhat orthogonal to resolving all server-side issues and figuring out what the campus IPP printing mechanism will be.

If possible, we should also avoid removing /etc/debathena-printing.conf if it had been created manually before the version of debathena-printing-config that includes it, but that may well be impossible.

#901 worksforme usb-creator-gtk doesn't work on cluster jdreed

Reported by jdreed, 11 years ago.

Description

I suspect this is due to poor interaction between the horrible things we do with aufs and whatever python goo usb-creator-gtk uses to frob disks, but...

If I attempt to burn to an empty FAT32-formatted flash drive, the "Make startup disk" button is grayed out. If I then choose "erase disk", it fails with "/dev/sdb1 contains a mounted filesystem" which is not true, since usb-creator-gtk has just unmounted it.

I'm not sure whose fault this is.
