Occasionally users can't log in because bugme dies in kernelspace. I forgot to copy down the exact error (something about fs/locks.c), but this happened a few times on quickstation-11-3. |

Having kicked a number of quickstations today with people idle for hours or days, I assert that bugme should have a hard logout at 15-20 minutes. There's precedent for this now, as the WIN.MIT.EDU machines log you out after 8 hours of idle time. This requires discussion with release-team, buy-in from FSX (which I guess is how "owls" is pronounced these days), and also outreach to the dorms to ensure they want their quickstations to remain as quickstations. (Edgerton, for example, has two quickstations in their library, which have some time limits by virtue of lacking chairs, but need not have the 10 minute time limit. |
