It's been noted athena-auto-update should use start-stop-daemon, which avoids the at(1) suckage, avoids frequent cron jobs, and avoids the ConsoleKit? issues with sleeping inside cron jobs. It was noted on the zephyr that we have no idea how start-stop-daemon will behave when the machine is suspend. Because this is a huge re-architecting of auto-update, extensive testing (above and beyond normal test plans) should be conducted. The idea of double-forking was also mentioned. |

As usual, Ubuntu doesn't believe in the existence of networks with registration pages or anything like that, so this option just runs dhclient and calls it good enough. We should consider diverting it on -cluster to actually start networking the normal way. |

At some point printing-config grew entirely out of hand to become a Python program with its own modules. This isn't really a configuration package, and therefore shouldn't be Debian-native. In particular there should be a reasonable tarball that one can "setup.py install" or whatever on a non-Debian UNIXy machine, and thereby hope to interact half-reasonably with Athena printers. |
