Used to say "/bin/athena/access_{on,off}" in SYNOPSIS. Since they've been
moved to /usr/athena, I've changed it to just the command names, as with
man pages for other /usr/athena/* commands.

11 | The |

12 | .I access_on |

14 | .I access_off |

15 | utilities control remote connections to Athena workstations. |
---|
16 | When you activate and login to a workstation, |
---|
17 | the workstation's |
---|
18 | .I toehold |
---|
19 | process uses the |
---|
20 | .I access_off |
---|
21 | program to prevent the workstation's |
---|
22 | .I inetd |
---|
23 | daemon from accepting |
---|
24 | network remote connections. |
---|
25 | In other words, |
---|
26 | no one can access the workstation with commands |

27 | like |

28 | .I rlogin, |
---|
29 | .I rcp, |
---|
30 | .I ftp, |

---|
33 | This protects the user from unexpected and possibly hostile remote connections. |
---|
34 | |
---|
35 | Of course the user may wish to allow remote connections. |
---|
36 | The |
---|
37 | .I access_on |

39 | Use |

41 | to prevent connections again. |
---|
42 | |
---|
43 | Note that the |
---|
44 | .I toehold |
---|
45 | utility manipulates remote access at activation and |
---|
46 | deactivation time. |
