and memos.

An optional

.SH "DEBATHENA CUSTOMIZATIONS"
.nr step 1 1
When
.B evolution
starts, it performs several Debathena-specific actions:
.IP \n[step]. 3
If Evolution has never been run before (or the
.I ~/.evolution
directory is missing),
.B evolution
creates
.I ~/.evolution
and sets its AFS permissions to be listable only by the current user
(system:anyuser none).
.IP \n+[step].
.B evolution
examines the user's mail server to determine if the user uses Exchange or IMAP.
If the latter,
.B evolution
sets Evolution to use GSSAPI to authenticate with Kerberos.
.IP \n+[step].
If the user still has an Athena 9 style mail server hostname set,
.B evolution
adds the user's new style mail server hostname to his or her Evolution profile.
.RB ( evolution
keeps the old server settings as a backup.)
.B evolution
also mutates the user's Evolution folder tree to refer to the new style server
hostname.
If the user does not have an Athena 9 style mail server hostname set,
.B evolution
sets up Evolution to use GSSAPI to authenticate the user to outgoing.mit.edu,
and it creates an initial Evolution folder tree for the user.
.PP
After it performs these actions,
.B evolution
starts Evolution.
