Using install option 1b actually destroys your disk despite saying it won't

Description

I installed Natty using the beta installer and switching the distro and using option 1b to preserve my current disk contents. It didn't.

(This would be higher-priority but 1b isn't advertised or supported)

That's my fault, I removed the code to pass it to stage 2 because I thought it was not in active use. I'll add it back if it's useful.

It also failed to automatically select cluster at install-debathena.sh. I'm not sure if that's the result of trying to use 1b or not.
