- Building gnome-vfs2 for Linux broke control-center, because gnome-desktop wasn't installed under /usr/athena (control-center might also have been at issue). Attempt to break this chain of lossage by building the core set of GNOME data packages and GNOME library packages containing data files: libgnome, libgnomeui, libbonobo, libbonoboui, gnome-desktop, gnome-pplets, gnome-icon-theme, and gnome-themes. (Unfortunately, the cost is 100MB. Ouch.)

- Incorporate upstream fix for buffer mismanagement: when expanding a buffer, don't set buffer->alloc until after the buffer has been successfully reallocated. fatal() might free the buffer, which would zero out buffer->alloc bytes of space, which would be bad if we haven't expanded the buffer yet.

- Introduce a new finish-install script, similar to the finish-update script, which we will run from /etc/init.d/finish-update instead of running athchanges directly. In install2, create initial system packs symlinks under /root so that athchanges will work during finish-install. Clean up these symlinks at the end of finish-install so that we can attach the system packs for real in athena-ws. For now, don't worry about an /install symlink; we don't need it and install1 doesn't set one up for us to grab. As an addendum to rev 1.20 of install2.sh, stop trying to run athchanges from the install miniroot; it won't work.
