#505 fixed Identify Debathena on the login screen geofft

Reported by geofft, 14 years ago.

Description

This is vaguely a repeat of #158 for new-style GDM

In particular, we should have a big block of text saying "Welcome to Debathena" or something on the login screen, as well as identifying which metapackage and Debian/Ubuntu? release the person is running.

rbasch already written code to make applications work correctly when running with GDM for the debathena-kiosk launcher. We should pull that out into a common parent class and use it for both the kiosk launcher and this "Welcome to Debathena" message.

#506 fixed installing kerberos-config on a Karmic live cd confuses AppArmor geofft

Reported by geofft, 14 years ago.

Description

I've seen strange failures with the ability for certain programs (like ntp and dhclient) to access libraries whose real locations are in in /rofs or /cow on a stock Karmic live CD after I've installed debathena-kerberos-config, with messages in the kernel log involving AppArmor?. I think this is the fault of kerberos-config restarting AppArmor?; is it the case that it's intentionally disabled on the live CD and we start it, or something?

#507 wontfix pursue upstream bugs in Cyrus IMAP geofft

Reported by geofft, 14 years ago.

Description
  1. As described in Trac #403, if you get a long IMAP response while SASL confidentiality protection is enabled, either Cyrus SASL or Cyrus IMAP barfs. This can be replicated in imtest. Is this fixed in a newer version, or do we need to report this uptream?
  2. As described in Trac #403, you can't tell Cyrus::IMAP to use SSL (or TLS or whatever), although you can tell imtest to use it (with -s) which works around the above bug. A cursory glance indicates that it's simply missing an XS binding for the C function to STARTTLS.

Fixing both of these will make mitmailutils happy.
