Upgrade to OpenAFS 1.6 as soon as possible

Description (last modified by jdreed) (diff)

There exists something called "pagbug", wherein users don't end up in a PAG and don't get tokens, but do get tickets. It manifests itself primarily on dialups due to the high number of logins. We believe this no longer exists in OpenAFS 1.6.

Discussion on -c sipb today pointed us at  http://gerrit.openafs.org/#change,1577 and  http://gerrit.openafs.org/#change,1167, both of which sound like they could be relevant.

I'll forward these on to bug-dialup.

  • Upstream bug set to LP:723481

One of those commits, “Linux: don't count pag keys against root's keyring quotas”, was already added to openafs-stable-1_4_x and is included in openafs 1.4.12+dfsg-4 (maverick, squeeze, lenny-backports).

broder and I will get the other one into natty ( LP:723481).

Oh, there’s a third commit, “Linux Keyrings: don't ignore error code from session keyring creation”, which is also included in openafs 1.4.12+dfsg-4.

We uploaded openafs 1.4.14+dfsg-1+ubuntu1 to natty yesterday, including the remaining pagbug commit, “Linux: don't count pag keys against root's keyring quotas”.

I just uploaded backports for hardy through maverick to  ppa:openafs/stable; they’ll build in a few hours.
